What Will the Exam Be Like?

You will be lying on the CT table with pillows for comfort and stability. Once in position the CT table will move you slowly into the scanner. The scanner makes clicking and winding sounds as it captures the images.

Some exams require the use of contrast agents to enhance certain structures or blood vessels. This is done by the use of an IV or orally. If your exam is one that needs contrast, then you will be asked if you have any allergies and if there is a history of particular medical conditions. This is done to indicate possible risks of reactions to the contrast.
